Passionate about crafting unforgettable adventures.
I’m a seasoned outdoor enthusiast, a New York State licensed guide, and now the proud president of the ADK Long Island Chapter, with a lifelong passion for nature. Growing up near my family cabin in the Catskills, I spent my childhood exploring the region's trails, developing an intimate knowledge of its wilderness areas. My early experiences in the Catskills instilled a deep love for hiking, backpacking, and the great outdoors.
After moving to the Midwest, I expanded my expertise by exploring the diverse backcountry and river systems of the region. My adventures included kayaking, canoeing, and backpacking, allowing me to hone my skills in various terrains and conditions.
Upon returning to my roots later in life, I achieved the prestigious status of becoming a Catskills 3500 Club member (Reg & Winter), Adirondack 46er, VT5, LG12ster and LP9er. I now share my knowledge and passion with fellow hikers by leading hikes for both the Catskill 3500 and Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) clubs. As president of the ADK Long Island Chapter, I am dedicated to fostering a strong outdoor community and promoting conservation efforts. My extensive experience, commitment to safety, and leadership make me a trusted and knowledgeable guide, focused on providing memorable and enriching outdoor experiences.

"I am really impressed with the mastery of your leadership, the dedication to hiking, and in helping people get out and hike. I really like your adventurous spirit, the quest of making an adventure out of routine hikes."

"Thanks, Matt, for leading the hike on Catamount. I had a wonderful experience with you and the group. Your education and guidance were very helpful, and I felt safe in some of the more difficult sections as a result of your help. Even the Chimney section turned out to be a fun experience. I look forward to more hiking in the future with you."

"Thank you, from the top to the bottom of my heart, for organizing and leading yesterday's hike to both North Dome and Sherrill. It was the first time that I ever approached North Dome's ledges from the Devil's Path, and I enjoyed the route you chose tremendously."

"Thank you so much for the warm and welcoming hike! I truly enjoyed my time at Panther. You made the whole experience possible and enjoyable. I was a bit nervous at first, especially since Balsam was my first 3500 hike just a week before Panther. I had heard Panther was a longer and more challenging trail, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. But after hearing so many great things about you from my hiking buddies, I’m so glad I chose to hike with you. You’re an amazing leader—attentive, thoughtful, and always mindful of the group's well-being. I felt safe the entire time, and instead of viewing the hike as a tough workout, I was able to appreciate it as a truly enjoyable experience. Thank you again for everything! I’m really looking forward to our next adventure."
